Summary

The Vagina Monologues has been heralded by The New York Times as one of the most important plays of the past 25 years. It’s a show that has rocked audiences all around the world – ground-breaking, poignant and hilarious all at once! Written in 1996 the play in an episodic one which explores consensual and non-consensual sexual experiences, body image, genital mutilation, direct and indirect encounters with reproduction, vaginal care, menstrual periods, and several other topics through the eyes of women with various ages, races, sexualities, and other differences.

Playwright, E Ensler, describes her show as a “celebration of vaginas”, and the play has sparked worldwide awareness of violence towards women and girls, and even set in motion its own annual festival, “V Day” which still runs worldwide today.
